SNOWMOBILE SAFARI
IN WESTERN-LAPLAND
5 DAYS AND 4 NIGHTS – WINTER 2009 – 2010 (valid for groups 4–20 persons)
This is a unique opportunity to experience the wonders of the Lapp nature. We will take you on a five days’ safari that will both demanding and rewarding. You will drive over 400 km amidst the scenery covered in white snow; through snowy forests, along frozen lakes and rivers, over windy plains and among the fells.
These action packed days will show you how nice and easy it is to travel by snowmobile and to find a place where you can listen to the silence. Physical efforts always give the opportunity to achieve and discover something new about yourself. This safari is a magnificent change to experience an adventure at its best!
Day 1 – Feel the spirit of nature!
Meet your guide at Lapland Safari premises in Levi and receive the warm safari clothing suitable for arctic conditions. Guide will tell about the safari ahead and take the group to the snowmobiles. After a short driving and safety introduction, the safari starts heading towards Ylläs resort. Snowmobiles driving one person per snowmobile
On the way to Ylläs visiting local husky camp where friendly huskies welcomes the group heartily
For the farm departure for a 5 km husky safari, two persons sharing one sledge
Arriving back to farm where snack lunch is served; fried sausages, sandwiches and coffee/tea
Then it is time to say goodbye to the huskies and continue to Äkäslompolo village in Ylläs.
Total driving distance is 80 km
Check-in to Lapland Hotel Äkäshotelli apartments
Half board dinner at hotel restaurant (3-courses + coffee)
Accommodation in apartments (2 persons/room)
Day 2 – Wilderness Center Kelokaira
After enjoying a breakfast at hotel it is time to get back on the snowmobiles and continue the safari towards to the municipality of Muonio. In Muonio your destination is the Kelokaira Wilderness Center situated by the Lake Toras-Sieppijärvi – which of course is frozen at the time. Total driving distance today is approx. 70 km.
Before arrival to Kelokaira visiting Torassieppi reindeer farm where first upon arrival Lappish lunch is served (sautéed reindeer with mashed potatoes, coffee/tea and cookie)
After lunch everyone has change to try reindeer driving!
Continuing by snowmobiles to Kelokaira where warm sauna is waiting at arrival and a tasty dinner is served before overnight at Kelokaira (2 persons/room)
Day 3 – Harriniva Wilderness Center
After enjoying a rich breakfast at Kelokaira it is time to get back on the snowmobiles. Driving courses follow smooth banks and curves along the snowmobiling route towards Harriniva Wilderness Center
On the way challenge yourself and conquer the fells Särkitunturi and Olostunturi!
Lunch will be served at Lapland Hotel Olostunturi restaurant (2-courses + coffee)
On the way possibility to try also ice-fishing
Total driving distance today is approx. 70 km
Dinner is served at Harriniva restaurant before overnight at Harriniva Wilderness Center (2 persons/room)
Day 4 – Enontekiö Hetta
After enjoying breakfast at Harriniva it is time to get back on the snowmobiles. Today’s’ safari goes towards Enontekiö and village Hetta.
During the safari enjoy the beautiful Lappish nature all around you!
Delicious outdoor lunch will be served by open fire during the day
Total driving distance is approx. 80 km
Dinner and overnight at Lapland Hotel Hetta apartments (2 persons/room)
Day 5 – Back to Levi
After enjoying breakfast at Hetta it is time to get back on the snowmobiles and head back to Levi
On the way to Levi lunch will be served at small restaurant on the way (2 courses + coffee)
Arriving back to Levin in the late afternoon
Total driving distance is approx. 110 km

Safari Program: All snowmobile safaris driven one person/snowmobiles
Other:
- Safari outfits at guests’ disposal throughout the safari: thermal overalls, boots, woollen socks, balaclavas, caps, mittens and helmets.
- English-speaking guidance during the safari.
- Alcoholic drinks to Kelokaira can be delivered according to subscription and they will be invoiced according to Alko pricelist plus delivery fee Eur 50,-/delivery.
