Levi
Kittilä
is located in Finnish Lapland, about 150 km north of the Polar Circle.
There are 5833 inhabitants in the area. Geographically Kittilä is
highland with many fells also large forest and bog areas are found
here.
Levi has been
carefully developed over the years to become one of the leading resorts
in Finland for adventure and action. Levi has also become a renowned
Ski resort and was the first Finnish ski resort to host the World Cup
Women’s Alpine event in 2004.
The
officially measured coldest temperature in Finland was in Pokka,
Kittilä in January 1999 -51,5° C (-60,7° F). Snow covers the ground in
most years from October to May.
The most known of the fells in Kittilä is the Levi (531 m). Two national parks: Pallas-Ylläs and Lemmenjoki. Särestöniemi art Museum is a must for all people appreciating art.
Kittilä´s airport is the nearest spot to land to reach Levi (10kms from Levi centre).
