Short presentation of Rovaniemi
Rovaniemi is located on the Arctic Circle
5.0170 N, 25.4670 E. The latitude north of which the sun does not set
in summer or rise in winter for at least one day. Most of Lapland is
north of the Arctic Circle, which passes through Rovaniemi.
The
elevation of Rovaniemi is 80 – 200 m above the sea level and time
zone is GMT + 2:00.The town of Rovaniemi and the municipalities of
Rovaniemen maalaiskunta (rural municipality) and Ranua comprise the
Rovaniemi sub-region. The number of inhabitants ranges from Ranua’s 5
000 to Rovaniemi’s 36 000 inhabitants. The total population of the
Rovaniemi sub-region is 63 000 inhabitants
The
Arctic Circle is an imaginary line above which the sun never sets in
summer for at least one night of the year. This is offset by the winter
darkness known as kaamos, when the Northern Lights dancing in the sky
are most brilliant of all.
You
cannot see the Arctic Circle. Its location at 66 32’ 35’’ is also
recognised as the border between the hectic and non-hectic world.
Anyone crossing it is filled with a sense of calm and forgets the busy
world he or she has come from.

Departure from Rovaniemi bus station 8 am, Santa Claus Sport Center
8.10 am. Return from Ylläsjärvi 5.15 p.m arriving Rovaniemi around 7.30
p.m.

cancellation message by Friday at 8.pm. otherwise your trip is
confirmed.
Other Meeting and congress services
Rovaniemi is a commercial and administrative centre, and therefore
experienced in arranging large events. High standard meeting and
congress premises and the town services offer excellent settings for a
variety of events.
Arktikum
Arktikum has versatile meetings and congress space: reception hall for
350 – 750 persons, the 179-seated Polarium has a sloping floor, stage,
speaker and secretary seats as well as excellent meeting and cinema
technologies. Arktikum, open time Thue- Sun, 10- 18.00.
Town Hall
The Council Chamber of the Town Hall has been designed and equipped for
demanding conference use. A pleasant reception hall adjoined. Separate
group workrooms.The staff restaurant Elissa and the private restaurant
of the Lappia House are also available.
Lappia Hall
Lappia Hall Theatre & Congress Hall may be used joined or
separately for meetings, functions and concerts. Festive reception
hall. The lower lobby acts as exhibition hall. The ground floor serves
as an exhibition, group work and dining area.
Fellman Hall
Fellman Hall of the University is a meeting venue for 326 persons.
The University also has a number of smaller lecture halls. In
conjunction with Restaurant Felli, the lower lobby is excellent for
lunch, buffet and cocktail occasions. For up to 500 persons.
Lappi Arena
Rovaniemi’s new multipurpose arena is especially suitable for large
numbers of participants. The Lappi Arena will provide conference and
event organizers with superb facilities that can be adapted for every
occasion. The Lappi Arena is located about 2 km from the city centre in
the middle of the outdoor recreation and sports area on Ounasvaara
hill.
