Saariselkä
Saariselkä, located in Northern Lapland,
is a versatile tourist centre and a lively village offering a wide
variety of services. The Urho Kekkonen National Park extends all the
way from the village to Koilliskairas where locals, as well as our
visitors, explore the park's unforgettable nature.Tourism has long

Northern Lapland is less wooded than other parts of the province. Above
the timber line there are only dwarf trees and bushes. Saariselkä
offers a network of well-marked hiking, ski and biking trails. The
area's colorful gold history also attracts tourists. Guided
gold-panning excursions are arranged to Laanila and Ivalojoki.
Saariselkä is located in the municipality of Inari, which has about
7,700 inhabitants. There are approximately 2,200 Sámi Lapps living in
Inari.
